Institute :-
Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management was established
at New Delhi in 1983 under Ministry of Tourism and Culture primarily
to serve as a Human Resource Wing of the Ministry of Tourism. Institute
initially conducted several modular courses besides conference, seminar,
workshops etc. on various chosen themes related to tourism and travel.
In 1990, IITTM designed framework for Post Graduate Programme in tourism
education was introduced in 5-6 universities in the country and presently
most of the tourism related courses in the universities and colleges
are developed by IITTM in late 80s. After its shifting in 1992 to
Gwalior and shifting of its activities at its own huge campus in City
Centre, Gwalior, it started Diploma in Tourism Management Programme
equivalent to Post Graduate programme at Gwalior with the approval
of AICTE, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi. AICTE approved other courses
of Diploma in Tourism and Travel Industry Management and Diploma in
Destination Management are being executed for many years. In 2000-01,
we launched major expansion programme and since August 2000, we have
started two new chapters in DTTIM, one new chapter in DTM and also
commenced first full time two years MBA programme at Gwalior centre.
Against sanctioned 40 seats, we have 44 participants in the programme. |
